Alabama considers POW-MIA flag bill

pow-mia-flag1Here’s a story to keep your eye on (from the Ft. Rucker Wiregrass Aviator, via eprisenow.com).

A bill by State Senator Harri Anne Smith (R-Slocomb) requiring the display of POW-MIA flags on state-owned buildings has unanimously passed the Alabama Senate and has been sent to the House of Representatives for consideration by that body.

I spoke with an aide in Senator Smith’s office yesterday, and it is anticipated that the State of Alabama house will vote on this bill before or no later than May 19, which is the last day of their legislative session for the year.

An amendment to the bill calls for the POW-MIA flag to fly third in order of precedence: US flag, State of Alabama flag, then POW-MIA flag.
