From the Alamo—Fiddling Davy

February 27, 1836—Saturday

The constant cannon fire has the men tired and on edge. And this cold and wind don’t help neither. Crockett broke out his fiddle today and played some, to cheer us up. He does have a way about him—he is an easy man to like.

Bowie heard the music and asked to have his cot brought out into the open. He is poorly but seeing him lifted our spirits.
