The Simplicity of the United States Constitution

americanflag10-thumb.jpgWhen was the last time you read the U.S. Constitution? It had been a long time for me—thirty-plus years—so this morning I decided to read it again.

I’d forgotten how simple and complete it is. In the small pocket edition I have, the entire constitution covers only thirteen pages. Contrary to today’s bloated legislations, this document is a masterpiece. Yes, we’ve added twenty-seven amendments, but they further clarify the seven articles of the Constitution.

Most of the Constitution addresses the three branches of our government and documents their powers and relationships with each other. The small portion remaining covers state to state, federal to state, debt, and constitutional amendments. Brilliant!

If you haven’t read our United States Constitution in a while, I encourage you to take the time and read it.
