In Search of Productivity

ProductivityI am hooked on the search for greater productivity. To find the magic bullet to a more efficient way of doing things. Always looking for the slightest increase. Then just about the time things are working smoothly—BAM!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for taking a few days off to refresh and recharge the batteries. It’s the coming back to reality that causes me the pain. Productivity is shot, flown the coop, disappeared. I can’t remember what I’m supposed to do when, where I put something, or why I can’t remember.

It’s like starting all over, and the time away was only five days. What would the results look like with two full weeks, or even a month off. I don’t understand how people do that—take several weeks or a month’s vacation a couple of times each year. A few days off, and I’m a wreck.

But, we’re back and I have to get back into the routine and become that productive person I’ve always wanted to be. Uh … as soon as I find my way around a mouse and keyboard again.

The first step is to write something easy, simple, and not to taxing on the brain. I’ll think of something soon and get to work.

  1. I had trouble arranging my thoughts and ideas until I covered a wall of my office in whiteboard and was able to map everything out.

  2. DanMac, I couldn’t agree more. In fact, I used to have an office that was paneled in white board. I loved it! I also kept plenty of dry-erase markers hanging around, so nothing stopped a thought. It will happen again.
