Not exactly a flag story, but, if you haven’t noticed, I love Scout stories. This one is about an Eagle Scout project that gets very involved. If you read the entire article, this will not be an easy project, completed in a few hours. This is a huge project that normally would require an entire city crew.
Harris Lynch, You are a credit to the Scouting uniform. Keep up the good work.
GALVESTON — The idea to renovate the tennis courts of Lasker Park came together for Harris Lynch when he played there with friends after school.
“The courts that day were chipped and cracked,” the Ball High sophomore said.
“Some parts even had holes. We just couldn’t play tennis very well there.”
Lynch, a Boy Scout in Troop 104 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Galveston, said he then realized the perfect project to earn his Eagle Scout rank.
“My whole family plays tennis,” said Lynch, who is on the tennis team at Ball High School. “So I saw this tennis court needing to be fixed up and I felt really good about choosing the park as my project.”
Lynch plans to resurface and repaint the five tennis courts of Lasker Park, 43rd Street and Avenue Q.
He also plans on improving the landscaping of the area, renovating the bathrooms and installing a water fountain.
