Flag Football Team Wins Championship

Sometimes flags are just for fun, although the National Champion Flag Football team might disagree. I think this is very serious business.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Caleb Recker’s college football career didn’t quite end when he left the Iowa program.

The City High graduate joined four other former Hawkeye walk-ons and two more Iowa students in winning the national flag football championship last week in Pensacola, Fla.

“It’s a way to stay competitive and keep playing,” Recker said. “It’s a lot of fun.”

The UI SSC team (Recker said SSC stands for nothing) won the Iowa intramural title in the fall. Recker was not yet on the team but joined when another team member couldn’t make the trip to the regional tournament in Lincoln, Neb.

  2. Thanks for the comment Jesse. I have discovered that flag football is a very serious sport, and some do have higher aspirations. I will continue to keep my eye on this. Thanks again.
